Epoxy Garage Floors
in Brunswick
Brunswick’s renovated homes and creative households tend to want a garage floor that looks as good as the rest of the house. Metal and Flake delivers that, without the fuss.
Serving Brunswick and Surrounds
Brunswick garaging is some of the oldest we work on. Behind the Victorian terraces, workers cottages and interwar bungalows off Sydney Road and Lygon Street, the garage is typically a single, narrow, rear laneway structure, sometimes brick and sometimes a later corrugated addition, standing on concrete that was poured decades ago and never touched since.
Old inner north slabs are rarely flat and rarely clean. We regularly find concrete poured in separate sections with a lip between them, no damp proof membrane underneath or one that failed long ago, surface spalling where the concrete has broken down, and heavy oil contamination from generations of cars. Rear laneway access also limits what equipment can physically be brought in, which is worth knowing before anyone quotes you a same day price over the phone.
What that means for your Brunswick garage floor
These floors can take a coating and hold it, but only after honest preparation and honest advice about what the slab will and will not do. We grind back to sound concrete, fill and level the section joints and spalled areas, and where a slab is genuinely too far gone we say so rather than sell a system that will fail inside a year. Flake is usually the right call here because it carries the surface variation an old slab keeps.
- Narrow and rear laneway access garages catered for
- Section joints and slab lips ground back and levelled
- Spalled and pitted concrete repaired before any coating
- Flake finish recommended to carry older slab variation
The concrete in my Brunswick garage is old and uneven. Is it worth coating?
Usually yes, but it depends on what is under the surface, which is why we grind before committing. Old inner north slabs are often poured in sections with a lip, spalled in places, and heavily oil contaminated. All of that is fixable. What is not fixable is concrete that has broken down structurally, and if that is what we find we will tell you rather than take the job. Flake carries the character of an old slab far better than a gloss finish.
We also regularly install across Coburg, Fitzroy North, Northcote, and Thornbury.
Two Finishes. One Standard.
Every Metal and Flake installation uses the same preparation process and the same 7-year guarantee. The difference is in the finish you choose.

From bare concrete to finished floor in 4 steps.
We measure your floor, assess the concrete, and give you a fixed written quote with no hidden costs.
Diamond grinding opens the concrete surface for maximum adhesion. Cracks and spalling are repaired before any coating is applied.
Primer, base coat, your chosen finish, and a polyaspartic topcoat are applied in the correct sequence and allowed to cure fully.
We walk you through the finished floor, hand over your written 7-year guarantee, and leave the site clean.
Results that speak for themselves.
The floor looks incredible. They prepped it properly, the finish is perfect, and it was done in a day and a half. Could not be happier.
I had three quotes and Metal and Flake were the only ones who talked about surface prep in detail. That made the decision easy. The result is exceptional.
